The Herbert C. Kelman Institute for Interactive Conflict Transformation, the Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership and the International Crisis Group are organizing a research workshop of 20 well-informed individuals on the challenges of current geopolitical conflict and the prospects for its management, including through sustainable security, dialogue, mediation and peace-building, entitled An Architecture for Peace and Security: Addressing Current Tensions and Conflicts. The meeting will take place on September 28 and 29, 2015 in New York City. It is planned as a round table discussion focused on the contending views on the contentious issues.
The sessions will bring together experts from various regions to provide diverse and global perspectives current issues and risks , especially on Europe and Asia, where the major world powers interface most directly. The group will include former and current envoys and mediators, as well as leaders of INGOs and representatives of international and regional organizations. The initiative is funded by the Chumir Foundation.
The Chumir Foundation is also organizing a senior-level international event, which will take place in Vienna in October 2015, the “Congress of Vienna 2015”. The Kelman Institute is a partner, and the Kelman Institute President, Dr. Wolfgang Petritsch, is in the board of advisors to the Congress.
